Deconstruction Gallery Concept

The concept for the textile artist gallery is based on deconstruction of traditional elements of fashion. Taking the petticoat skirt as inspiration, the idea of a hidden structure beneath the textile is flipped and in the construction of the gallery display areas, a metal grid that supports lighting and can be used as a clothing rack would be set in front of the gallery walls. The walls behind would be made of a pliable plexiglass where textile designers' art could be printed and applied as full scale murals. Textile designers and fashion designers could collaborate as a team to display both textiles and clothing created from these designs.
